Effective Stretch Mark Removal Cream

Posted by health-resources on February 10, 2011 at 1:58 AM Comments comments (2)

If you are plagued by stretch marks, you have probably sought help from any number of friends and family. Maybe you even spoke with a distant cousin. Stretch mark removal cream takes on the desired effectiveness whenever it helps the body to carry out the normal biochemical processes within the skin. Therefore, this article will focus on something that your cousin might not be aware of the biochemistry of the stretch mark removal cream.

When a woman is pregnant, her skin stretches. When a teenager undergoes a sudden growth spurt, those young, hormone filled skin cells stretch. Whenever a bodybuilder expands the circumference around each biceps, then the skin cells covering those muscles have to stretch. The elastic nature of connective fibers located in the middle layer of skin give that outer body organ the ability to stretch, up to a certain point.

However, those connective fibers can become stretched to the breaking point. When they break, then the skin temporarily looses its ability to produce collagen. Deprived of the protein that provides the skin with elasticity, the epithelial cells begin to exhibit stretch marks. At that point, a new mother, a teenager or a bodybuilder might well turn to a stretch marks removal cream.

In order to be effective such a cream needs to contain those ingredients that can help to replenish the collagen in the middle layer of skin. Whenever such a cream is intended for use on aging skin, then the ingredients in that product should also encourage the production of elastin. Collagen and elastin are both proteins that can be found in healthy skin. They allow younger skin to display its natural vibrancy.

Now when you ask others, such as a cousin, about lotions or creams that can remove stretch marks, you might hear little about collagen and elastin. Instead you might hear mention of aloe vera and cocoa butter. Those substances can be found in beneficial skin care products. Such ingredients do facilitate completion of the skin’s natural healing process. They can help to moisten dry and chapped skin.

Still, no skin care product that has been enriched with aloe vera and cocoa butter can immediately qualify for designation as the “best stretch mark removal cream.” In fact, such a product could contain other ingredients that are of questionable value. If you are seeking out information on the best stretch mark removal cream, then you ought to avoid falling for a product that contains a potentially harmful ingredient.

You need to stay clear of any cream or Stretch Mark Lotion that contains DMAE. That substance exposes the skin cells to a chemical that is much like amphetamine. “Grapefruit seed extract” is another ingredient of questionable value. Although it sounds like an essential oil, it has actually been synthesized from man made chemicals. Knowing those facts, you might be asking, “What is the best stretch marks removal cream?

Even if you have never taken a course in biochemistry, you owe it to your skin cells to learn as much as possible about the biochemistry of epithelial cells. Backed with that knowledge, you can proceed with selecting an effective stretch mark removal cream.

Impingement Syndrome

Posted by health-resources on March 5, 2010 at 1:56 PM Comments comments (0)

The term, impingement syndrome is also given the names like swimmer’s shoulder and thrower’s shoulder. It refers to the condition caused by irritation or inflammation in tendons of the rotator cuff. The inflammation happens as these tendons get into a narrow space made of bones. This space is known as subacromial space. When these tendons thicken they acquire all the space available in the area. They further enlarge and this causes their impingement by other nearby structures and shoulder muscles.

Impingement syndrome is classified into two classes, external impingement and internal impingement. The external case may be diagnosed as primary or secondary case. The primary case may be due to abnormalities of the bone which gives it the shape of an arch. It may also happen due to congenital or degenerative reasons. In secondary case, the cause may be poor or bad stabilization of shoulder blade resulting in alterations in acromion position. This leads to tendon impingement. Internal impingement is found mostly among athletes or sportspersons. As these people have to perform activities like throwing the ball and making other quick movements, they suffer from this syndrome most. It is characterized by pain in backside or frontside of the shoulder.

Impingement syndrome may become very painful especially for the sportspersons if they leave it as it is and keep going on with their regular activities. Inorder to combat the situation they should give rest to the affected area time to time. During the resting time, they should follow cold therapy by applying ice cubes wrapped in the cloth, to the paining area for few minutes. This should be done after every 2 hours. They should remember not to use ice cubes unwrapped else it may cause ice burns. Hot water bottles may also help in cases of muscle spasms. The diagnosis involves x-ray tests that aid in determining its cause. The doctor then may prescribe anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen and other drugs that non-steroidal in nature. Several rehabilitation programs have been started that improve the treatment process to a vast extent.

Throat Polyps

Throat polyps are also known as vocal cord polyps due to the fact that they appear on vocal cords. They appear first as little swelling and later grow bigger and bigger in size. Initially they are so small that they look not more than blisters. People who have to speak or use their voice too much are very likely to develop this problem. These people may be teachers, lecturers, radio jockeys and singers who earn through their voices only and so have to keep using it all the time. These polyps may also be known as voice abuse polyps as they result from excessive or over usage of vocal cords. Also, people who smoke or are subjected to inhale pollutants and those who are already allergic or are suffering from hyperthyroidism, suffer from this problem.

To control throat polyps, the doctor may require giving you instructions to modify your speech behavior. You may need to stay quite for longer periods so that your vocal muscles take ample rest and are not overworked further. Sometimes, people tend to consider difficulty in speech as a matter of sore throat. They should rather let the doctor diagnose about the situation who would perform laryngoscopy for the same.

Throat polyps can either be removed through surgery or with the help of steroids. In some cases, the surgery is performed through laryngoscopy only. During the process, a metallic tube attached with required devices, is inserted into throat through the mouth. The surgery may be followed by speech or voice therapy classes. In these classes, the patient is told about how to use his or her voice correctly and to how much of extent. They are advised not to scream or shout and stress the vocal muscles. The patients should seriously follow these treatment modes correctly and should adhere to all the speech-related instructions. In a matter of time, they may expect a normal voice.

Vitamin E Deficiency

Posted by health-resources on March 5, 2010 at 6:00 AM Comments comments (0)

Vitamin K is constituted of compounds like tocopherols and tocotrienols, as a group. The vitamin E deficiency is common among people in developing countries. This happens due to malabsorption of fat. Deficiancy diseases also happen due to malabsorption cases, irrespective of the fact that you have been taking a good diet. Other reasons can be pancreatitis, cystic fibrosis and Bassen-Kornzweig syndrome. The deficiency can result in several dreadful syndromes and severe health disorders. Some common symptoms of this deficiency are hymolytic anemia and some neurological disorders. Though these disorders are not specifically known yet they can be very disturbing and need to be concerned about.

Vitamin E deficiency may also add to some major issues like retrolental fibroplasia and intraventricular hemorrhage. This happens mostly with infants and neonates. Intraventricular hemorrhage leads to weakness in muscles. Among adults, the deficiency causes spinocerebral ataxia though very less such cases can be seen in records. The deficiency can be confirmed or diagnosed through checking the levels of this vitamin in the body. Hemolysis of RBC happens if the vitamin is lacking, therefore, measurement of RBC hemolysis confirms the same. Mostly the neonates are found to suffer this kind of deficiency. You sure, can prevent it by providing your neonate with enough of mother’s milk and other lactation formulas as they contain good amounts of vitamin E. Premature neonates though may require supplementation.

To treat vitamin E deficiency, the doctor may prescribe injection for you that contain heavy doses of tocopherol. Neuropathy, when in early stages, can be cured through these injections. This also helps in resolving malabsorption cases. While fighting with deficiency issues, one should also consider the fact that he or she is not taking too much of vitamin E supplements, medications or injections. The excess of this vitamin may be really harmful as it may cause bleeding, a stroke or early death.

Deviated Nasal Septum

Posted by health-resources on March 4, 2010 at 5:15 AM Comments comments (0)

Deviated nasal septum, as the name suggests, refers to a nose disorder in which the nasal septum is displaced. Nasal septum is a thin bone that separates the two nostrils of the nose. On its deviation, one nostril may get large and the other may be too small. Breathing thus, becomes difficult through the affected nostril as the passage does not have enough space to let the air in and out. Most of the cases that have reported this problem are recorded to have been caused by sudden violent blow to the face. Other causes may be congenital or may be any accident during delivery of the child.

The patient having deviated nasal septum may complain of headaches, breathing issues and sleepless nights. Since the air passage gets insufficient, the sinuses are also not drained properly. This may lead to headaches and blood coming out of nose. The person may start snoring during sleep and may even face sleep apnea situations. Nasal septum may not necessarily stay on exact borderline normally. Some people are even not aware of the fact their septum is slightly deviated or displaced from original place. Years pass by without making them realize about this fact as they may not feel any nasal dysfunction. Since they don’t find any related difficulty, the condition stays undetected or undiagnosed. But when the condition starts leading to pain, the person should consider checking for it and getting it corrected. Also, in cases where the nasal dislocation is so much that it starts affecting the looks, the person may require to know about the matter, getting it sorted.

The treatment of deviated nasal septum may not be a major medical issue and can be corrected through a simple surgical procedure known as septoplasty. The surgery is performed through nostrils only which involves cutting down of the obstructing matter. It takes not more than 1 hour of time. The patient then recovers in a week or two.

Treatment of Dystonia

Posted by health-resources on March 2, 2010 at 5:36 AM Comments comments (0)

The treatment of dystonia is possible only if the disease is diagnosed correctly and well on time. The first step towards treating any such disease should be its timely diagnosis. As soon as the cause of its symptoms is found out, one fourth of the treatment is done. Depending upon the cause, the doctor looks for what would be the best treatment option for the patient. The cases where dystonia happened due to any disease like Parkinson’s disease or multiple sclerosis, treating the disease itself would be immense help for dystonia. Usually, doctor’s follow three treatment options as they may either give you oral medicines or injectibles straight into the affected muscles or they may perform surgery. Some cases may be milder enough to be treated by physiotherapy.

Though any of the treatment methods does not promise for reversing dystonia symptoms absolutely, yet you can benefit from them by minimizing its affects. The medicines can either be given alone or in combination. It would be interesting to note that some toxins may help in this regard. For example, Botulinum toxin which is a toxic protein is when injected in very minute quantities in the impacted muscle, it relaxes it down. Some of the medications that are administered for treatment of dystonia are Benzodiazepines, Baclofen, Anticholinergics and dopamine-blocking or -depleting agents.

In cases where the medications are not found to have worked, surgeries come as another alternative for treatment of dystonia. Thalamotomy and pallidotomy are the surgery types that are performed commonly on dystonics who don’t seem to respond to drugs or physiotherapy. Another surgical procedure which is termed as deep brain stimulation is opted by many surgeons to treat the muscle disorder. Other surgery methods are myectomy, ramisectomy, rhizotomy and peripheral denervation. Exercises also can be advised to the patients. They may include stretching postures which should be done only under strict guidance of an able physiotherapist. Some people find ‘tricky options’ to be very effective. The tricks include touching or stroking a particular point of the body, quite frequently. The right trick stimulates the nerve or muscle thereby, solving the problem to a good extent.

Muscle Pain

In simple language, the pain that impacts and happens in muscles are known as muscle pain. They may occur due to many reasons. These days, the problem is quite prevalent due to stressful lifestyle of the people. This is a common problem among those who just have started with exercising. Since their body was not accustomed to this activity, their immediate subjection to it leads to muscle pain in various parts of the body for some time, especially during the initial phase. Those who exercise too much, also stress their muscles enough to have that pain. In some cases, due to muscle cramp, it pains.

Muscle pain may occur due to any kind of muscle infection, bacterial as well as viral. Disorders like fibromyalgia, dermatomyositis and polymyositis. All these disorders cause cramps in the muscles in many ways. Diseases like arthritis and thyroid disease also cause pain which may also be severe. People who are diabetic need to care for controlling it enough or else they may experience this vulnerable pain. When the diagnosis of diabetes is delayed and therefore not treated on time, it causes this pain. So, this comes as another reason for the need of timely diagnosis of diabetes.

Disorders causing concern for circulatory system also give a way to muscle pain. There are certain medications which may also be held responsible for the pain. You may consider the muscle symptom as one of the side effects of these drugs. If you experience the symptom, mention it to your doctor. If the pain is too much, he may find you an alternate option. Never ever over medicate or self medicate yourself. Seek your doctor’s advice before starting with any kind of medication. Pain in any of the muscles can also happen due to disorders relating to muscle metabolism. The pain caused due to most of these reasons can be treated through medications whereas some involve change in lifestyle and physiotherapy.

Split Transplant

Split transplant, as the name suggests, is the technique of in which the organ is split into two and is then transplanted among two recipients. The organ liver has been transplanted like this, till date. So this is also known as split liver transplantation (SLT). Normally, this technique has not got much appreciation and popularity since the transfer of complete organ has got more success and is preferred more, as well. Along with xenograft transplantation technique, this technique has also been found as a method to fight the shortage of donors or organs for transplantation. Through this technique, one donor satisfies the need of two recipients.

In these cases, the recipients are generally one adult and one child. The cases of two adult recipients have been extremely rare. To perform such a surgery, a team of highly competent and experienced doctors as well as researchers is required as this involves thorough study about the organ to be donated and body compositions of all the three persons involved. The organ and cell matching between donor and recipients is really difficult to achieve. To get best possible results, all the pros and cons about the split transplant surgery are considered. The possibilities results after the surgery, are also wondered and studies hard to know the overall outcome.

In recent times, several scientists have come up with many different approaches related to split transplant procedures. Some of them have suggested using two left sections of the liver from two cadaveric donors or combining a left liver section with the one obtained from a living donor. This is expected to help more and more patients, though further research regarding the matter, is still going on. Scientists hope that one day, this technique would get advanced enough to help maximum number of patients and thus, would give a big boost to this technique.

Tooth Sensitivity

The problem of tooth sensitivity is complained by most of the people. The condition is also termed as dentin hypersensitivity. The term refers to an amount of discomfort experienced by the tooth while chewing hot and cold, too spicy or sugary stuffs. In some cases, the condition is so intense that even the touch of air also bothers to some extent. Activities like brushing teeth and rinsing mouth with water or mouthwash also becomes difficult. It becomes really difficult for one to enjoy his or her favorite food he or she had been yearning for, past long. But, one should not get disappointed because this problem can be treated.

On finding tooth sensitivity, one should consult a dentist about how can this be treated. This problem occurs due to weakening of tooth enamel. The dentist would prescribe you fluoride toothpaste which would strengthen the same to make the tooth stronger. You can also have toothpaste made especially to treat such teeth. These toothpastes can be had from the market by asking for desensitizing toothpastes. Such teeth should be brushed and cleaned gently as rough treatment may weaken the teeth further. A rhythmic pattern of brushing should be followed which would massage the teeth and gums gently to make them feel good.

At times, it is seen that brushing with harsh or rough hands causes teeth to become weak. Lack of oral hygiene is also responsible for it. Consult your dentist about how to care about your teeth. One should clearly note that, only teeth brushing is not enough. One should also consider little things that really matter, like rinsing mouth after every meal or drink, using mouthwash and flossing and seeking suitable treatment even for minor oral issues. As you follow treatment for the tooth sensitivity, avoid having any kind of foods that may harm and bring back the condition to square one or even worse.

Problems with Hair Cosmetics

Posted by health-resources on January 29, 2010 at 9:09 AM Comments comments (0)

Hair cosmetics today, are widely in use irrespective of the very fact that they cause some amount of harm to the hair, every time they are used. These problems with hair cosmetics may not be visible earlier but may show up later on, in many different ways. Several hair problems arise as a result. Some problems are curable but, some of them are so severe that the treatment becomes almost impossible and one has to go through the painful phase of weakening or losing hair. Therefore, people should avoid the use of such cosmetics that snatch away the natural beauty and look of the hair. But, not everyone is able to avoid them as for them, it is a matter of their profession for they need to look ‘good and attractive’ which is vital for their job. People in media, television and films need to use these things quite often. Though they can’t avoid using them, but they can sure use precautionary tips while using them or go through the corrective treatment afterwards.

These cosmetics including hair straightener, are used for various purposes like straightening, waving and perming of hair, for which the substance which is used consists of very strong chemicals that are strong enough to rearrange the biochemical bonds of the hair. As a result, the natural bonding gets disturbed and the hair is artificially rearranged. The artificial luster and setting hides the harmful impact at that point of time. But later, the person knows that problems with hair cosmetics are numerous.

The hair gets damaged and so gets the skin. The hair gets weaker and weaker and gives a frizzy look. If the usage of these chemicals is further continued, the hair breakage follows. The hair may break from anywhere even from the scalp and this is considered as hair fall. One of the problems with hair cosmetics is that the hair keeps losing even its natural color.
